Only because zero stars isn’t an option. Management is great about talking a good game, however their actions are quite the contrary.
Very little teamwork between salaries and bargaining unit employees
Freedom to work independently
There the right way, the wrong way, and the textron way. And the textron way is to be followed to the letter, and never improved upon.
The only things that are effectively communicated are the new hoops you need to jump through to do your job.
Textron disregards men’s and women’s input equally.
Attitude towards older colleagues
As far as I can tell they treat older folks equally to younger folks
If your lucky, there is room for advancement. For most, this will not be an option.
Overall compensation for your work
Pay is great.
Office / Work Environment
If you like being a mushroom, this is the place for you. You’ll be kept in the dark and fed all the refuse you can handle.
A solid effort is made to contain and treat hazardous materials.
Rather than hire enough people to meet deadlines, they mandatory as much overtime as the union contract allows.
I think the image of textron is like an Instagram photo. What most people see is filtered.
It’s aircraft. As secure as any
Would not be a friendly place to a physically handicapped person, but what manufacturing facility is?
Sometimes the extent of safety equipment hinders safety
In production, you will perform one task until you can do it in your sleep. But don’t sleep at work, you’ll get fired for that.
Inclusive / Diverse
They are good about hiring from a diverse labor pool.
Suggestions for improvement
- Actually listen to employees instead of paying them lip service. Instead of focusing on documenting the contents of toolboxes, get people the tools they need. Take action on quality ideas that are submitted. I could write a novel on how there’s room for improvement in my work scope alone.
What I like about the company
With less than 3 years current seniority, very little.
What I dislike about the company
Again, could write a novel. This company does not care what your skill set is after employment. No matter how impressive your resume is, you will be doing what they need you to do regardless of experience. They will sell you a job in the interview, but don’t count on that being your actual job. Just imagine what your first job was in your respective field, and subtract everything good about it. That’s what you’ll do all day, every day.
