Gallup has a very cult-like culture. As soon as they feel you are not drinking the Kool-Aid they will find a way to push you out.
Overall compensation for your work
Starting pay is average for the industry but you better be happy with staying at that starting rate for your entire time at Gallup, because they do not give pay increases. If they tell you anything different, they are lying to you.
Office / Work Environment
I worked there for 7 years. In the last 4 years many people had been terminated and everyone was in constant fear of losing their job. Management made it clear to everyone that they were replaceable.
Gallup promotes unlimited vacation and personal time, but you have to average over 45 hrs per week over the course of the year or your job is not considered full-time. So, by all means take a vacation, but take a company laptop with you and plan on working 8+ hours per day while on "vacation". There is considerable pressure to always be connected and available, even in the evenings.
The image the company tries to portray does not reflect reality. Gallup was involved in a scandal with the U.S. mint, the U.S. State Department, and FEMA. They deliberately overcharged government contracts tens of millions of dollars. This is a fact that can easily be verified online.
I loved the work I was doing, and was very proud of my accomplishments. I only wish I had dedicates those years and that energy at a company that valued hard work and innovation.
