- The General Board of Pensions & Health Benefits-UMC02.Feb 2016
The culture of this religious non-profit organization does not reflect the canons which the United Methodist Church was founded upon.
Support from management
Human resources is not fair and impartial. Leaders do not support workers but support poorly trained middle manager supervisors.
Employees are afraid of retaliation and retribution from managers.
Freedom to work independently
Employees are set up for failure by forcing them to have unattainable performance goals.
Poor communication between managers and employees.
If you are looking for fairness, look for another organization to hang your hat on!
Attitude towards older colleagues
Favors younger, male employees.
No career growth opportunities.
Overall compensation for your work
Compensation is systematically below fair market value, thus attracting sub-par middle managers and employees.
Office / Work Environment
Employees are bullied and not treated fairly.
This organization is very vocal about the way third world countries are treated politically and economically, but are blind and oblivious to how their own employees are being treated by upper and middle management.
Employees are expected to work extremely Lin days in order to make unreasonable deadlines at times.
This organization manufacturers an image incongruent with reality.
Good luck if you want job security at this organization -- chances are you won't be around long enough to retire here.
Have no concept of what it takes to motivate and reward good employees.
Inclusive / Diverse
This organization does not provide a fair, diverse or inclusive working environment.
Suggestions for improvement
- Develop an HR department that treats employees with fairness and respect. Hire managers that foster the Christian principles and teachings of The United Methodist Church while applying financial policies that provide asset growth for clergy and lay employees of the UMC.
What I dislike about the company
Poor management from the top down.
