I was constantly pressured to work.
My office was only accessible via three flights of stairs and one elevator that was broken for years.
The work was a constant "revolving door" that didn't allow any sense of accomplishment to kick in.
Suggestions for improvement
- Not doing the above would be great! Also, cultivating an overall experience where the work/employees are valued can help. It felt like a mill and I burnt myself out.
What I like about the company
It was a museum and those are great.
What I dislike about the company
They had no qualms about exploiting my work. I was originally hired as a part-time worker with no benefits--fair enough. I was later switched to another position that was originally full-time with benefits, but was instead part-time but loaded with the maximum number of hours possible for me to work, while the workload was still full-time's worth. In hindsight, it would have been better for me to quit sooner.
