Attitude towards older colleagues
I checked one star for this category only for the purpose of being able to make this comment. I truly feel that I lost my job due to age discrimination by my District Manager. She systematically compiled trumped-up charges against our studio in order to have a reason to discharge me. We were consistantly the third highest earning studio out of eleven in our district month after month.
Suggestions for improvement
- Create an opportunity by the corporate office to entertain the opinions and suggestions of management at the studio level; a place that they often seemed detached from.
What I like about the company
I always enjoyed the satisfaction that came with pleasing a customer with the quality of our work and the exceptional customer service that our staff was known to provide. This is, however, more of a reflection of our particular studio but it is what I found to be a positive aspect overall.
What I dislike about the company
The lack of respect for it's employees. When we were busy or in our busier season, employees were expected to work extensive numbers of hours but if it wasn't busy they would be called out for many shifts throughout a given pay period. This is very difficult to significantly reduce the hours of a regular employee knowing they themselves and their families to support. This would often happen week after week. Also, Store Managers are often constrained from doing their jobs due to micro management by their superiors less qualified than themselves.
