Unless you’re an officer there is little advancement opportunity.

  • Train officers in good business practices. Just because you’re an ordained minister doesn’t mean you are good at managing people.

  • There's a lot of employees that cycle through quickly because they don't pay the best but there are nonprofit and what you don't get in pay you can makeup for in joy

What I like about the company

Anybody's birthday they would take you out for lunch and they had occasional employees days or they would take us out for a meal and companionship and fellowship. environment

What I dislike about the company

I hated losing good employees because they transferred their captains in and out of refugee years so you never know who you're going to be working with next door what they're going to be like

  • Keep administrative staff in place for more than 3 years. Provide more positive affirmations and set realistic goals. When you ask for informed feedback, pay attention and make adjustments. Trust you employees.

What I like about the company

Interpersonal support with coworkers and shared core beliefs and motivation for type of work. Successes celebrated and a very caring environment.

What I dislike about the company

Allowing some employees to continue doing poorly, affecting others negatively without correction is discouraging for the rest of employees. Sometimes big policies don't apply well in unique circumstances. Consistency would help overall effectiveness.

The salvation army is a good stepping stone especially in the social services area but not the best place for long term employment.

Teamwork

Coworkers get along fine. Its It's the commissioned officers who pose a problem.

Most of the work is micromanaged.

Decisions are made without front line worker input.

That is not standard operating procedure within TSA at all.

Yes except for salaried employees who work in marketing.

Very challenging considering restrictions on spending, rules to follow and sometimes difficult clientele

  • Work with the stores to allow workers inside when weather is uncomfortable.

What I like about the company

It is fine if you like being outside in cold weather and just need a few hours of work a week.

What I dislike about the company

I did not like that they were not fair with the hours. Some people were given 15 hours per week and others were allowed 50 which helped them get overtime.
