Suggestions for improvement
- Stop hiring your top sales people as managers without any formal management training. Just because they know how to sell exceptionally well, doesn't mean they know what ethical management skills are. They need to lead a team and drive business with integrity and not sneaky and deceptive tricks. Offer an hourly wage so there is no animosity between employer and employee. Do a much better job at keeping products in stock. And adjust your retail prices so that you are in better line with your competition. Currently, the Tile Shop is one of the most expensive places you could buy tile from.
What I like about the company
The customers are nice and appreciate the help they receive. You get a $500 a week guaranteed if your sales aren't enough to cover your commissions. The benefits they offer are average but available after your three month probation period.
What I dislike about the company
You are only paid 100% commission; there is no hourly pay. They have figured out the least expensive way to keep a retail store running. You will be responsible for sweeping, moping, taking out the garbage, cleaning bathrooms and lunch room, not to mention loading and unloading heavy cases of tile and supplies. This is not a job for you if you are physically weak, and are an average sales person with average negotiating skills.
