Suggestions for improvement
- Racism is rampant but not the way people traditionally think. Quit worrying about lawsuits and do what’s right! Management was known as the “boys club”. HR never handled any inappropriate reports of management (managers participating in a “sexual situation” inside the building- during work hours!- after all, she was promoted to that position while having an affair with the former publisher. Coincidence?? Hire honest hard working people and take out the trash! To really save the company replace everyone from the top down excluding Accounting- she has done every job in the building and knows more than anyone else & The press Manager-he is also an asset to the company and has a strong sense of loyalty or he wouldn’t still be there.
What I like about the company
Sales reps were amazing (everyone I worked with left within 4 months of me leaving). It was like a family and we all helped each other with reaching our goals - to make more $$$. We were all so close in the office and in our personal lives!
What I dislike about the company
They need less managers or have the managers actually help the reps make sales instead of spying on them through their office blinds. During the previous year I worked sales kept going down so there shouldn’t have been almost as many managers as sales reps. But if that many managers was required day could have done a lot more to help the sales reps and build morale instead of doing nothing or making sales Forei wrap to a current customer behind their back keeping the revenue for themselves. It was obvious that management was the reason the advertising department was losing customers and revenue. The fact that the news is no longer a local business is very apparent by their disrespect toward local business owners. Sales reps we’re not allowed to change any prices or offer something decent for a small business’s budget. Selling digital was mandatory even if someone didn’t want it they either had to have it or the price of their print would double - it was forced. Sometimes the digital ads never ran and customers were billed anyway....Management hid that. I think it’s at the point of no return. The company who owns it looks like the actually bought it for the value of the building/land considering there is now a huge for sale sign in front of our local paper. Management and above is looking out for themselves to the end.
