Company Culture

Very "them vs us" when it comes to the levels of hierarchy. Staff fear management and management fears the executives. Manipulation is valued over cooperation.

Support from management

You better use your ESP to make them look good to their boss, because they will tell you nothing and blame you when anything goes wrong.

Teamwork

Your boss is your adversary.

Freedom to work independently

You are definitely on your own.

Internal Communication

Secrets and lies.

Gender Equality

Mostly women on staff. If you are a man, you are probably an executive, although there are a few in housekeeping and no women at all in maintenance.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Get rid of them and replace them with cheaper workers because experience is of no value.

Career Development

There is some support for the precious few.

Overall compensation for your work

Great pay for execs...ok for management. People providing direct care or doing a job involving any physicality better plan on having a second job somewhere else.

Office / Work Environment

The physical building is ok...very clean. A lot of the decor is cliche...shelves full of books that no one reads because they are just for show. They spent a pretty penny putting their mission statement on a wall that they repainted 4 times to get just the right combination of stainless steel letters on a muddy blue wall. They live up to not one word of its vague message.

Environmental Friendliness

Executives love each other (except when they are stabbing one another in the back). Management will throw front line staff under the bus to appease their superiors. Lowest level staff are actually nice people who genuinely care for the residents.

Work-Life Balance

Work IS your life.

Company Image

For a place that claims religious affiliation, this is the most unchristian place I have ever worked.

Job Security

None at all. People are disposable. Also, the facility is nearly empty. Fiscally, this cannot continue. Millions are spent on the building, since property is far more highly valued than people. Best case scenario...somebody bails them out of the financial sinkhole they dug themselves. They'll get a state of the art facility for pennies on the dollar.

Handicapped Accessibility

No trouble getting around, yet NO handicapped people have been hired.

Workplace Safety

Safe neighborhood. Cameras EVERYWHERE, and even though safety is not their purpose, I suppose it helps.

Challenging Work

This will be one of the most challenging jobs you will ever do. It need not be, but those are their values.

Inclusive / Diverse

Execs are 6-figure salary white folks. Lower level staff are all people of color making very little money.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Complete corporate overhaul. Replace arrogant, self-important execs with people who have vision and values.

What I like about the company

The residents and their families were great. Employees from the previous owner are also great. Most of the best employees were let go or driven away.

What I dislike about the company

The secrets, the duplicity, but mostly the fact that people, be they staff or residents, just don't matter.
