Suggestions for improvement
- All departments need a budget for team-building. The executives need to really look at what their decisions are costing the employees - bottom line stuff. Not everyone here makes what they make or has the obligations/privileges they have. More consistent reviews and raises need to be implemented. Bonuses are not equitable - some departments don't give them out at all. Address issues openly, behind closed door stuff brings everyone down. HR needs to learn how to speak truthfully and disclose fully. Talking out of both sides of your mouth just leads to a lack of trust.
What I like about the company
I have been given the freedom to work independently. My co-workers are generally good people to work with. The PTO and retirement benefits are generous. Work-life balance is definitely encouraged. Employee events are always fun (just not very frequent).
What I dislike about the company
My department in particular is so "independent" that we rarely meet at all. We are all doing our respective jobs, but there is little comradery. The executive team and board seem to only be interested in the costs of everything - to the detriment of their employees. This has become very apparent with health care benefits this year. Other perks are out there, but no one tells employees about them. It wasn't this way when I started, and I know that the costs for everything we do have gone up. It just seems that the staff are getting shafted by decisions that don't even affect the people making them.
