Company Culture

Not a work climate of fairness and trust. A good word is never heard.

Support from management

Autocracy and family business.

Teamwork

Lots of finger pointing and butt covering.

Freedom to work independently

Lots of family favorites are played.

Internal Communication

Information is closely held and not uniformly shared.

Gender Equality

Obvious bifurcation of the workforce. Women in the offices only.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Some older employees are treated with favoritism if close to the family.

Career Development

Few opportunities for personal development.

Overall compensation for your work

Normal for a mom & pop chemical shop. Below process industry standards.

Office / Work Environment

Unsafe work conditions and failures to meet safety recommendations all around.

Environmental Friendliness

No evidence of social awareness. Profit driven only.

Work-Life Balance

Normal work conditions and hours. Some strange ideas regarding vacation and holidays.

Company Image

Few employees talk openly about the company for fear of retribution.

Job Security

Job security is only extended to family and the good old boy network.

Handicapped Accessibility

Probably meets minimum requirements.

Workplace Safety

Minimalist training and evident noncompliance with OSHA standards.

Challenging Work

Challenges are to keep from being bored. No feedback regarding accomplishments.

Inclusive / Diverse

Diverse ideas are not welcomed. It's their way or the highway.

What I like about the company

Direct deposit of paychecks is timely. Good health benefits. Adequate 401K plan.

What I dislike about the company

Everything else.

Company Culture

As the title says, the culture is one of deceit. Upper management is structured on telling the owner what he wants to hear to prevent him from going into a rage. It's a classic case of "The Emperor's New Clothes."

Support from management

Employees opinions are not wanted. This is a dictatorship.

Teamwork

Many functions pulling in different directions and ignored by the Executive Management Team.

Freedom to work independently

Micromanagement is the primary style. Structure is provided only as a façade for customers and regulatory bodies.

Internal Communication

A few meetings are held to disseminate propaganda. The real intentions are held closely by upper management.

Gender Equality

While there is at least one woman on the executive management team of about ten, the production workforce is biased toward men. The clerical workforce is biased toward women.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Senior workers, unless they are "old buddies" with the owner, or highly supportive of the deceptive culture are not being hired.

Career Development

There is no opportunity for personal development. The management team may send a few workers to technical classes in support of their IT efforts. But, there is no education reimbursement system.

Overall compensation for your work

About average for a low tier supplier.

Office / Work Environment

Health and Safety are viewed as a "cost". Little real emphasis is placed on it proactively beyond meeting the minimum requirements. The unwritten policy is, "If someone gets injured, we can always get more Mexicans."

Environmental Friendliness

Management maintains a façade of ill gotten and half-hearted certificates and society memberships. They love to display the "talk". But, there's no walking the "walk."

Work-Life Balance

This is pretty average for a family run business. The internal family members load themselves up with all of the available overtime. Note that the assistant plant manager has over 40 relatives working in the plant of about 170 employees.

Company Image

Most employees learn quickly that, with one family having 40 employees, you have to keep your opinions to yourself. This quickly leads to the attitude that "it's just a job."

Job Security

If you don't play ball in keep their façades up, you'll be eliminated. If you express disagreement with policies, you'll be eliminated. It's a highly political environment.

Handicapped Accessibility

There is a meager attempt to meet disabled employee requirements. But, no disabled employees were on site while I worked there.

Workplace Safety

Definitely not. The place is a danger to the employees and to the community. It is filled with dangerous chemicals and processes. But, you won't find it listed as compliant on www.RTK.net.

Challenging Work

The main challenge is keeping up the façades, keeping your head down, and trying to win at the interdepartmental "blame" game.

Inclusive / Diverse

Diversity is a low priority. Diverse opinions and ideas are NOT supported.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Sell out to a professional management company.

What I like about the company

There is very little to like about working for TCT. It's a job. You get paid.

What I dislike about the company

Politically charged atmosphere, lots of negativity, lots of deceit
