The culture was based on Japanese of business ethics. Striving to keep employees engaged with customer satisfaction and product knowledge.
Support from management
Management within the RIM team was always supportive, giving special attention to project demands when efforts were required to finish a project and acquire the equipment necessary to complete the job and make sure the scheduling timeline was met. Machines were maintained with little downtime and the project was finished in record time.
All departments share in the experience of being part of the company future success and keep customer information confidential and take pride in giving great customer service.
Freedom to work independently
Experiencing being part of the paperless effort and given the responsibility to find the necessary equipment, learn how to use it to its potential and execute all activities on my own and meeting the expectation of management and departments was my greatest achievement. I felt the support I needed to be successful and complete all tasks being placed in my hands a rewarding experience.
With Skype meetings weekly to keep departments organized and well informed of product changes or upgrades for great customer service.
Attitude towards older colleagues
As one of the oldest in on my team I felt as important as everyone else I was never made to feel inadequate or less of a contributor than the rest of the team.
Work life balance has everything to do with team efforts and building better communication from management to support staff members. Also to enjoy outside activities that focus on team building skills and enjoying learning about the future products and services that make the company successful.
Suggestions for improvement
- It is hard to gage gender equality, in this kid of venue. That is private, only up to the individual experiencing it.
What I like about the company
The culture was Japanese based, but the staff left on the premises was mostly contingent staff, and they took pride in providing the best customer service and finished any project within the guidelines set down by management that relocated to Plano, Texas.
What I dislike about the company
Japanese culture cannot be merely translated into English and be an complete business mantra. People are still required to do the job, understand what the work is and put all their time and efforts into completing it. The basics of the work life will not be translated into symbols from another country. The American worker has the determination and drive to keep their lifestyle alive with what they create with their own two hands. It is not merely the product, but the hands that created it.
