Suggestions for improvement
- Tremont Credit Union is unredeemable. The best course of action would be for the regulators to finally shut them down like they want to and force a merger with a better managed credit union.
What I like about the company
People in my department were friendly. Also people bring in good food for the frequent potlucks.
What I dislike about the company
I have never worked in such a dysfunctional company, such a toxic culture with such incompetent leadership. It has been like this for years. Google "Letter of Understanding Tremont" for interesting reading. When hired new employees are told that Tremont is in a turnaround and needs your outside skills and perspective. Once you are working there any suggestions you have are ignored and constructive criticism places a target on your back. This is not an idle threat as Tremont rapidly cycles through managers, who either quickly leave or are fired for trivial reasons. This creates a lack of continuity and frequent policy changes that are haphazardly communicated. Senior leadership micromanages small matters while large decisions are deferred until the last possible moment.
New hires are thrust into difficult situations with barely any training. Career development is non-existent. When a mistake happens a quest begins to figure out who to pin the blame on, not to figure out how to improve. Internal procedures are cumbersome and inefficient, member service is spotty and the products Tremont offers are lackluster. Successful employees do what they are told, don't ask too many questions, and ideally become friends with the right people.
