  • The Trib is like the rest of the industry. It's on life support.

What I like about the company

You'll work with really interesting and usually friendly peers.

What I dislike about the company

The company is losing money. If hired, you won't last. If lucky, you'll only last long enough to get a buyout. Management is mostly autocratic, ruling by fear or ridicule, out of touch with the staff and riddled with yes-men. Emphasis on men.

Company Culture

Supervisors often put down employees, change requirements on the fly and are uneven in temperament and practice. Those who work hard do not get ahead.

Support from management

This company only puts leadership behind employees in its Pittsburgh and Greensburg offices and leaves the others to their own devices.

Freedom to work independently

Work is often heaped onto workers so heavily and unevenly that employees tend to burn out quickly.

Internal Communication

Secretive and elusive with important details surrounding day-to-day. Employees are always left in the dark.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Support is not given to employees outside of the Pittsburgh/Greensburg newsrooms, seniority does not play a factor and leadership is thankless toward employees.

Overall compensation for your work

Employees GROSSLY under compensated for the amount of work and sacrifices put forth. Almost always requires, but refuses to pay for, overtime.

Work heaped with little to no regard for personal life.

Work is harder than it needs to be due to uneven leadership across the entire company.
