There was no sense of teamwork.
Support from management
Never had any support
They had so much favoritism and it didn't encourage teamwork amongst employees. Even though teamwork was expected they did nothing to help that happen.
Freedom to work independently
They for the most part trusted us to work independent.
They were bad at communication with employees.
It was mostly about the men. Women didn't have as much opportunities.
Attitude towards older colleagues
They weren't as bad with the elderly.
There weren't many growth opportunities.
Overall compensation for your work
They were awful about that.
Office / Work Environment
They always seemed to care more about newspapers than actual employees
We were encouraged to recycle.
Was one of the worst places in terms of caring about your personal life and were not understanding on sick days or important events you had going on.
I didn't feel like they care at all about employees
Never felt position was stable.
Didn't have any.
There was a lot of safety hazards despite the monthly meetings on safety.
Had to be careful and quality checks were important.
Inclusive / Diverse
They didn't want to hear about any way to improve.
Suggestions for improvement
- They need to hire trained and educated people for the management positions. They would hire people who they were friends with and they didn't know how to do proper job. They were unprofessional and would share private employee sensitive information.
What I like about the company
I loved learning how the newspaper was put together and they had good benefits.
What I dislike about the company
There was no raises and no room for growth. The management was terrible and they abused power.
