Just as any large healthcare system would, they have their memorized "Mission Statement". It's all fake. They don't care about patients.
Support from management
You will be impressed by management during the interview and they will seem so happy that you're coming on board. Don't fall for it.
Nope. No one wants to work with you to help fix anything. They are all against you because they are miserable and they are only there for a paycheck. Once they see that you are actually there to work and to improve the patient's experience, you'll have a huge target on your back.
Freedom to work independently
Make sure you enjoy someone standing over your shoulder. You will most certainly be micro-managed.
ZERO - absolutely none.
Office / Work Environment
Again, depends on the department. Patient Access is a true life nightmare. The management team is extremely difficult. They think that they are communicating, but they aren't. When you attempt to create a happier environment, you will be scolded.
This can depend on the department that you are in. It is healthcare. so you should expect any shift on any day. However, they could do a better job scheduling staff in the ER.
I wish I could give less than 1 star. I was warned before accepting this job. I also read all of the horrible reviews. However, I assumed that the negativity was coming from disgruntled former employees. Well, it wasn't. They were real. No one in the Tri-County area wants to go to this hospital. It is also common to hear referred to as "Tri-Death", rather than Trident. After being there, I see why. Oh, and the good reviews are the product of a team effort by the management and administration.
I have seen some things in this hospital that I would never expect to see in any healthcare facility. Your safety is not a concern.
Actually, the work was the easy part. Ignoring the HIPAA violations and lack of compassion for patients was the hard part.
Suggestions for improvement
- That would be a list too long to type
What I like about the company
Not much of anything. I do honestly believe that HCA, the parent company, has a nice program and has good intentions. I just don't think that the right people have shown up at this facility at the right time.
What I dislike about the company
Mostly - the management and administration. I'm not one to usually say that, because I am in Management, myself. This group manages in a different style that I am just not comfortable with.
