Support from management
Try-Cal is run by its employees because it has an absentee owner who expects his employees to perform beyond his own competency and capability. Don't expect any promises to be kept. Don't expect a raise or a review. Additional compensation may or may not come at then end of the year depending on profit which is directly effected by his personal spending habits. I never had a job description but was let go for not fulfilling expectations after 12 yrs of managing the administrative side of the business.
No communication regarding performance.
Women are only seen as and referred to as "assistants" or "secretaries" regardless of their responsibilities.
Attitude towards older colleagues
In my opinion, no, senior workers are considered dispensable and are dismissed for cheaper labor.
The company only supports continuing education as it relates to service work. Service workers receive increases for continued education. Admin staff do not.
Overall compensation for your work
I did not receive a pay increase in the last 7 yrs of 22 yrs of service. This is despite annual company revenue growth and added responsibility. I should know...I handled the books.
Office / Work Environment
NA. Worked from home.
I had no one to back me up. I was salaried so it was up to me to make up for anything not completed in my absence. My office was in my home. I was on call 24/7.
Jobs are completely at risk at all times.
NO...the satisfaction was when I knew the fires I put out were not of my making.
