Support from management

Prior to 2013, the company culture was driven by customer satisfaction and making quality products. In the last 2 years, management has changed direction to only value meeting revenue numbers and inflated targets for TYCO Corporate. Employees are required to work long hours with no recognition for their efforts. The prior culture (mgmt) would at least recognize and reward a tough month with company breakfast.

Teamwork

Individual contributors on teams work well together. The mentality has become 'at least we're in this together.'

Internal Communication

There are biweekly meetings that are supposed to be held by all department managers to communicate messages to all employees. Some managers don't hold the meetings at all so employees are left in the dark. Questions asked during these meetings also go unanswered. The 2 way communication between management (senior leadership) and employees has virtually disappeared.

Overall compensation for your work

Unless you start off in a senior leadership position, prepare to be underpaid and over worked. They will make promises of promotions or salary adjustments but in the end, they fail to come through. This company pays about 30% less for same work as other companies.

Office / Work Environment

The building is modern with heat and air in the manufacturing and warehouse areas. They spend millions of dollars upgrading office areas, cubicles and work benches. Money would be better spent on employees.

Work-Life Balance

If you work in operations, plan on 60/70 hour work weeks. They won't use the word 'mandatory overtime' but OT is part of the job description and you will punished if you don't work the long hours that they require. Sometimes this includes 7 day work weeks. If you are in any type of management position, plan to be available 24/7, including when you're on vacation.

Company Image

They used to make the best product on the market, due to the culture of revenue over the customer now, their reputation in the field is now reduced.

Job Security

They do about 1 layoff a year. No one is safe.

Inclusive / Diverse

The trend of HR and recruiting lately is to ONLY hire minorities (African Americans) regardless of who is the best candidate. Again, this is another corporate initiative goal to increase diversity.
