Suggestions for improvement
- I would only suggest improving communication, maybe by having a sort of "ambassador" between departments that could meet every other week or so and just share company information between each other. I think that would help with the communication blocks that the company sometimes suffers from, and would give employees a "go-to" person if they have any questions that pertain to a department other than their own.
What I like about the company
UGI is all about making you feel comfortable, all of the supervisors have open-door policies in place, and the work environment can be changed easily to accommodate anyone. They also put a high value on promoting from within rather than hiring outside people who are maybe not as familiar with the industry as a current employee. Wages are competitive, a new hire gets excellent benefits (immediate 401K enrollment, 3 weeks paid vacation, personal and sick days), and raises are all but guaranteed yearly. Performance is checked often to make sure that you are fulfilling your job duties. They also care more about fixing a "problem" with your work rather than just outright firing an employee, they would rather keep you and show you that you are valuable to the company.
What I dislike about the company
As with a lot of large companies, communication is lacking, especially between different departments within the company as a whole. Also, while the wages are competitive and reviews usually provide a raise, the review process is long and requires a lot ofapprovals, which can delay new wages taking effect, causing a lump sum of retro pay to be added to one paycheck once the performance review is approved.
