What I like

I have had a great experience at UNC. I really enjoy the people I work with and the teamwork atmosphere.

What I dislike

The worst part of my company is parking. We have to pay to come to work and no parking is anywhere near the building I work in.

Suggestions for improvement

I would make parking free for employees and continue to have student pay for parking.

UNC is a great hospital system in terms of the care they give. However, as an employee, they fall short.

EmployeeWorked at University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC at the time of review.

What I like

They give great medical care and the patient experience is important.

What I dislike

Compensation, employee engagement and communication

Suggestions for improvement

Better communication and transparency across the board. I would love for the company to show the employees that they are appreciated and they care about our welfare.

Company Culture

As a network they are one of the best hospital systems, but I believe they could do more for employee engagement. Employees are replaceable- that’s the message they send.

Challenging Work

It’s average with not much room for advancement

The amount of micromanaging, disrespect and lack of compassion is sad. Nursing is no longer about patient care.

What I like

I enjoy working with a lot of my colleagues.

What I dislike

Money seems to be more important than patient care. It is the bottom line, sadly.

Suggestions for improvement

Treat staff better. Offer day care, more autonomy, less punative actions.
