First of they are Hasidic Jews, their is certain protocol in their religion they must follow but it was quiet a social shock. Research customs for that will help you before you go in and try to shake a mans hand, and you are a woman. You would have thought I was sickly. They do not explain so educate your self. Although even that couldn't save me
Support from management
Decisions are usually unclear and menial.
The employees are friendly enough but it's made clear through subtle gestures as to who pulls the most weight.
Freedom to work independently
You are basically on the road in traffic most of the time. You get to set your own schedule depending on which partner you get assigned to.
Inclusive / Diverse
Unless you are male and Hasidic don't hope for much. Only 2 woman both of the religion. Just know this position is a stepping stone
Suggestions for improvement
- Better management and direction. Way to much interpersonal self righteousness not enough work. They should really only hire persons bilingual in Spanish, French and Hebrew/ Yiddish above the age of 45. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to call myself a union representative but it was to much of an age, gender and religion gap to have successfully produced an employee net in which to grow or even devote 25+years of work I could have done for them. In the end the last laugh was mine. I now work for Mercedes-Benz Corporate. This job is a stepping stone. Please make plans to squirrel away money like I did or you will be left high and dry without notice.
What I like about the company
I loved the fact that they were always on time with their checks. Everything else you could learn to navigate.
What I dislike about the company
Although they would not out right discriminate, subtle hints are felt. They give you no notice of termination and they certainly don't care enough to explain. The work is tidies and especially if you are a woman you will be leered at by the factory workers you encounter. Being bilingual in Spanish was a boon for me but work will be stressful if you do not.
