Support from management

Only rating this in the middle. Why? My report-to person was awesome in terms of support. When my report-to person was unexpectedly fired, I had little support from upper management.

Teamwork

Depends on the team. I rank this low only because there were some within the team that were absolutely not helpful and essentially said "look it up yourself" when they are the subordinate and I am the titled position holder.

Freedom to work independently

I could do this as long as the month-end/daily tasks were on time.

Internal Communication

There was good internal communication as we'd have frequent "town hall" meetings and/or the VP's would send emails to everyone.

Gender Equality

No problem here. There were several gay members in the organization.

Attitude towards older colleagues

I felt some "ageism" when an older gentleman was let go due to management's belief he wasn't "cutting" it. I thought it was a little more than that.

Career Development

Absolutely NO career development.

Overall compensation for your work

Worst wages ever. I was paid about 50% of my worth.

Office / Work Environment

Nice offices (if you had one); big Employee Dining Room. Usually pretty quiet during the day.

Environmental Friendliness

I don't recall seeing any ecological measures being taken.

Work-Life Balance

Rarely worked a lot of overtime, but quarter ends and year-ends as well as the end of a large campaign were tough.

Company Image

It's an internationally recognized charity -- the image is pretty good.

Job Security

I could still be there if the low wages and firing of my report-to person didn't factor in to my decision to move on.

Handicapped Accessibility

Easy access for wheelchairs.

Workplace Safety

I'm only ranking this low because the office building is in a less-than-desirable neighborhood and a colleague had her moped stolen from the property.

Challenging Work

Work was fairly easy and straight forward. Almost down right boring.

Inclusive / Diverse

Many different backgrounds were employed.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Double everyone's wages to make them "liveable" wages.

What I like about the company

That's it's a world renown charity.

What I dislike about the company

The inflexibility of the start and ending hours; no option to telecommute if needed.
