Company Culture

Since it’s a big company, beurocracy is always a huge problem in terms of necessary changes actually being implemented in a timely fashion, but overall I am satisfied with my employer.

Teamwork

Rounding meetings are held monthly, and honest, clear feedback is encouraged and given full attention.

Freedom to work independently

Individual development is strongly encouraged and supported.

Internal Communication

Communication and collaboration has always been excellent here.

Work-Life Balance

Since it’s a hospital, it’s hard not to give every single hour you can in order to keep everything going smoothly.

It’s just challenging enough to keep things interesting.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Budget management has always been a huge headache, as well as efficient use of storage space. Both are being worked on, however, so I am determined to be part of the solution, not the “complaints committee”.

What I like about the company

Upon receiving my job here as a new MA I was welcomed and mentored carefully from the very beginning. The staff in my department have been incredible examples of how to work hard, be compassionate and patient, and prioritize care without sacrificing personal health or safety.

What I dislike about the company

It’s a big, slow-moving company, so making good changes happen can often be frustrating. But, such is the nature of the beast, so there’s nothing to do but make the best of it and keep working hard.

Teamwork and patient care are at the top of my co-worker's priorities.

Suggestions for improvement

  • More efficient designation and use of re-usable and non-reusable supplies, with as universal as system as possible across ALL floors in ALL hospitals and ALL clinics. Simplicity wherever possible would help a great deal with better management of funds and resources.

What I like about the company

Best job I've had so far—everyone I've worked with has helped me improve my productivity and performance. I appreciate that this is a teaching hospital, since the best teachers are also the best learners.

What I dislike about the company

How slowly improvements are implemented can be frustrating.
