Suggestions for improvement
- I would offer more green transportation options that actually work for real people who live far away (doubling one's commute time is not an acceptable alternative to driving). I would put greater emphasis on valuing individual employees' contributions, particularly by making a transparent system for advancement in position and pay.
What I like about the company
My favorite thing about my job is the level of personal autonomy I have to choose my own projects and, for the most part, set my own deadlines. This is not the case across the whole university, but it my particular department, it is true. Everyone at the university enjoys extensive benefits including lots of paid time off, reasonably priced health insurance and retirement options, and the free use of many university facilities. The culture at the university is not as fast-paced as a private-sector industry, which means it's usually low-stress for most of the people I've met.
