Suggestions for improvement

  • A steady, guaranteed funding source would solve a myriad of problems.

What I like about the company

UNO is a stimulating environment with constant activity. There are always events to participate in (if that is your choice), but you will also be left alone if you prefer. It provides the amenities that any University would. I found my colleagues to be friendly and cooperative.

What I dislike about the company

UNO suffers from the same issues as most public universities. This is (mostly) not UNO's "fault" - it is simply the current industry "normal" . In particular, constant budget constraints due to a uncertain/changing budget streams can often be stressful.

Suggestions for improvement

  • More communication. More chances to share space and community as a whole campus. More events.

What I like about the company

I do work that I feel is important. It's challenging, but manageable and I receive a great amount of support doing what I do. I generally think that UNO wants to grow and become a more visible presence in higher education and the community at large.

What I dislike about the company

I think there needs to be more communication from higher administration. And even though I'm sure it's part of all organizations, but politics do play a pretty large role in how UNO operates.

Suggestions for improvement

  • More communication. More focused approaches at improving smaller things rather than larger projects. The aggregate betterment of small improvements I think would outweigh the benefits of focusing on one large improvement.

What I like about the company

People are usually very nice and supportive. I feel like my mistakes are opportunities for learning and growth rather than demerits towards termination. I believe they're always working towards making the work community more connected with one another through events and programs.

What I dislike about the company

There's a lack of communication sometimes which stunts progress, but I guess that's part of the culture around larger organizations.
