It's big, so despite efforts on behalf of senior leadership, it is easy to feel overlooked.
Support from management
Varies from department to department. My experience has been great.
Work in progress. Read the news.
Overall compensation for your work
We all know we could make more for comparable work outside the University environment.
Efforts exist, but operations lag behind.
Varies from department to department.
I like my work. I am allowed to innovate and stretch.
Suggestions for improvement
- It's difficult to effect change at such a large institution. Bureaucracy and politics need to change the most, but they are also the biggest barriers to change. I don't believe this is more prevalent where I work than it is in other places, though.I'd like to see better support for work-life balance. Many, many people are learning they can work effectively from home thanks to Covid. Would be great if the University could work that into their strategic planning.
What I like about the company
I have enjoyed the opportunity to grow, learn, and to be promoted. I am also allowed to innovate and work on improving processes. For me, it is a good fit.
What I dislike about the company
Nobody likes to pay to park, especially because the parking lots are located a good distance away from building entrances. Pay is not especially competitive. It's a large place, and experiences can be variable based on the people you interact with. There are certain departments where I would be very hesitant to work given their reputations.
