There are a lot of great events as well as rewards that the company hosts. UPS is also involved in the community. Bosses can be understanding of different culture views. Well round group of individuals run the place and it can make it a great work environment.
Support from management
When I ask for help or tools needed to assist in my job management always pulls through
We are told to ask for help when moving things but it is frowned spin when you actually communicate with your neighbors.
Freedom to work independently
Majority of the time I am left alone to complete things on my own move with the work.
There have been occasional situations where there was a lot of he said she said type of communication between the bosses to staff.
Has a female in the company I feel management does treat me equal. Some of the older coworkers that have been there for years however seem to frown apon women in the work place.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Older employees are well respected in the workplace. They recieve equal pay and opportunities.
Free education for whatever you want to use it for moving forward is always an option.
Overall compensation for your work
Sometimes it feels the money is not enoug. But the health care is more then enough and makes it worth it.
Office / Work Environment
If you are in the right spots in the building you are warm during the winter cool in the summer. But most areas you have to dress for the weather even when inside. Temperature can range anywhere from 30' to 110'. Dress the part.
There are recycling bins everywhere.
We have a safety committee that gives you life wellness tips to help you have a happy home life as well as a safe work life
I really enjoy working for UPS wouldn't use any other company for shipping purposes.
Unloading trailers can not be done by a machine so yes I feel there will always be a need for my position
Not really sure it's a safe place for those with those kind of needs.
They try to train but usually there aren't enough trains for everyone so you just learn the basics and take off pick stuff up as you go.
The only challenges that you would be faced with is strength. You need to have a strong body and be able to left heavy objects on your own.
Inclusive / Diverse
Not really a place for ideas and options. You just put the box's where they go.
Suggestions for improvement
- Leaving people in one set of trucks and letting that be their permanent work area day to day so they can get used to the loads rather then moving them all over to areas they have to relearn.
What I like about the company
When I was in a car accident on my way to work. My boss came and got me out. My window was shuddered I was cold he brought me gloves a hat blanket until the cops arrived. I received paid sick time to recover from the accident and light work when I returned
What I dislike about the company
Some of the supervisors do not know how to talk to people and go on what I call a power trip. They get bossy and don't accomplish the job properly and criticize us for not working hard enough. When we are exhausted and dripping with sweat from hard manual labor.
