Suggestions for improvement

we need better communication, better relations between military and civilians. and more promotion opportunities and career progression.

Company Culture

Moral is not good in our organization.

Work-Life Balance

We have generous leave benefits.

Teamwork

Moral and teamwork here is not so good.

Office / Work Environment

We have some issues with old buildings and uncomfortable conditions.

Challenging Work

I wouldn't say it is challenging. It can be stressful.

Internal Communication

Communication is not always good.

Gender Equality

Compared to the private sector I think we do better

Freedom to work independently

We must follow rules and regulations with not much room for variance

Former EmployeeWorked at United States Army in Killeen, TX.

What I like

The Army taught me discipline, self control, valuable skills, self reliance and yet also how to work within a team. It supported me and my family with a quality of life we miss. I learned what it felt like to have brothers/sisters and what it's like to be part of something important...something bigger than you...a family

What I dislike

The lack of roots in a permanent location.

Suggestions for improvement

I would not know, there are certainly things that be coildimproved on however as this would take a monumental decree I choose to leave those decisions to people more qualified

Former EmployeeWorked at US Army National Guard in Lansing, MI.

What I like

It was easy to get time off when needed. We got to leave earlier the day before a holiday. They didn't mind if you left early to go to doctor appointments.

What I dislike

They are resistant to change. Their need to stick to a hierarchy structure and dependency on rank is leading to a breakdown in communication and loss of trust

Suggestions for improvement

Streamline processes. More team effort instead of hierarchy

Company Culture

Kind of a good ole boys club. You have to have known everyone for a long time or really know how to work them to fit in

Work-Life Balance

Pretty easy to get out early or work around my life.

Career Development

Training is given based on preferential treatment. Also active duty component gets first pick.

Inclusive / Diverse

They do not value diverse opinions or anything that might result in change

Teamwork

There is a great deal of dishonesty and under the table deals. But they do encourage civility

Attitude towards older colleagues

They often let older employees of higher rank get away with not doing anything

Support from management

Terrible leadership

Office / Work Environment

Armories contain high levels of lead dust. Initially they made efforts to clean this until it became too costly. Now they only sample in select areas to make it seem like the problem is fixed

Challenging Work

One of the most boring and pointless jobs I have ever had

Internal Communication

Terrible communication. Only favorite employees get any recognition

Gender Equality

Some opportunities are not available to women unless you know someone

Freedom to work independently

Some micromanaging
