Hourly plus commission was nice, being a top performer made it even better. Other wireless companies pay a lot better.
The area that I worked in was sold off. Companies like USCC have to change to survive and honestly in my area Verizon and At&t had the market share and there was no room to expand beyond what they already had so selling was a good option for them. Now, telling all of your employees over a prerecorded teleconference wasn't exactly the right way to do it. The way we were told that we were all being canned was probably the worst way possible and it left us with a ton of questions.
