Support from management
Severely lacking and inept
99% are out for themselves only. This is an attitude displayed from higher management to middle-management to lower management and all through the post office workers. Few care about anything but themselves and getting through the day of work the easiest way possible.
Freedom to work independently
Micromanaging by all managers and supervisors. Everyone you ask for help gives you a different answer from the last person you asked and says that the last person was wrong.
Men and women are equally chastised for not doing a good job each and every day.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Although the post office hires senior workers simply because they're required to buy law pressures are put upon these people, myself included to keep up and work harder than the young people. There is no consideration for health conditions and there is pressure every day for senior workers to quit.
Only if the post office considers you young enough to stay there long enough to have a career.
Overall compensation for your work
While the post office's starting pay is a bit higher then many large companies the amount paid is not nearly enough to compensate for the amount of work having to be done.
Office / Work Environment
Machinery and vehicles are outdated, dangerous and undependable.
No time for anything but work. There's no time for a life outside work.
No one I worked with or talked to liked working for the post office…they were just trying to get enough years so they could retire.
The post office is always restructuring and jobs are being eliminated.
As required by law.
The post office meets OSHA standards and trains employees prior to working the job. However this is overshadowed by the fact that after training the post office demands speed with little regard for employee safety. When an employee is injured the post office invariably finds a way to make it the employees fault.
Everything we did had to be faster faster faster there's no time to take time to enjoy a good job because you don't have time to do a good job
Inclusive / Diverse
What I like about the company
What I dislike about the company
Lack of genuine concern for the employees because they can always hire someone else.
