Support from management
There are multiple layers of management. Often feels that there are many bosses, and frequently, they don't communicate with each other. Employees are not trained and they are left to sink or swim without support.
The team is fun but they don't talk to each other. They schedule meetings that prevent work from being done more than they help better the work being done. The meetings are loosely directed and the information given in a meeting for example reports are not written down by management or documented anywhere so issues are forgotten, and there's no follow up or accountability
Freedom to work independently
Yes and no. It is interesting what decisions you can make and which they decide to hold court for. When left with no support, you are often making decisions that impact the clients and these must be made quickly.
There is not universally good communication. Staff has formed cliques - those who attend happy hour vs. those who do not, those who worked todeher at other agencies v. those who have worked for this agency for over 8 years. Etc. these groupings make it so gossip spreads as fact and useful information is no longer distributed or heard on
Male in same position with same level of education and same (or even less) experience as female makes between 10 and 20 k more money
Office / Work Environment
Computers and phones don't work and are outdated - constantly losing internet or access to server - phones literally don't work
No- we are often asked to work weekends and holidays and threatened if we do not show up to events
They want the work done and expect someone to pick up slack of other employees - even if that means going home late (really late) or working weekends.
We do great things despite the fact we have no leadership and no training or support
