Suggestions for improvement

  • Our new management keeps telling the floor support that we need to be more consistent when they themselves are not consistent. If we follow the attendance policy and place an employee on a probation for excessive absences, if the employee violates the probation, they are supposed to be terminated from the position. Our new management is so concerned with keeping headcount that those who violate probation, don't get terminated and are allowed to continue working with us. This undermines the floor support in their efforts to follow policy and makes it seem like our "discipline" means nothing, so our employees don't respect us when we tell them they are breaking policies and need to stop or they'll face disciplinary action. (Disciplinary action no longer means anything.) Also, this causes employees to dislike certain floor support who are actually consistent in the policy and prefer those who aren't as consistent because they know that the discipline they give won't change anything since they don't have thesupport of upper management.

What I like about the company

I've been able to meet a lot of new people and make good friends with peers. Just upper management fails at communication and is systematically sabotaging floor support's efforts to work together and get their jobs done. I have made friends for life at this job, just the company's decision to place someone unfamiliar with our site's team and who lacks the ability to do the job effectively has caused some of the best employees to leave, especially since the new management is desperate to keep people, so instead of terming those who are disrespectful and undermine the efforts of floor staff, they are allowed to stay, often with raises.

What I dislike about the company

They promote during interviews that they hire from within. But the more recent upper management positions haven't been posted for applications internally and the C-division management just offer the position to whoever they like the most, with no regard to the recommendations of the person who was previously in the position, but moved on to a better opportunity. The company needs to go back to posting internally and giving everyone who is interested a fair chance at a new position, instead of selecting someone who cannot handle the job and is nearly never present at work.

Some of the supervisors are good. But they seem to leave fast too.

What I like about the company

They have some wonderful people who work for the company. Unfortunately, senior management always finds a way to run them off

What I dislike about the company

The president is not a leader, just a sales guy.
The CFO is condescending and does not care about the morale of the company
HR Director is incompetent
"ESOP" is the explanation for your low wages
