Company Culture

No culture within the company. Nothing is celebrated.

Support from management

Manager is only in the office 4 to 6 hrs out of the day. Mostly off on Monday and Friday. New equipment is released at management discretion and not equally distributed with employees causing a stigma of favorites. Ethic's is unheard of. Most heard quote "No, if it ain't broke don't try to fix it". Leaving no room for improvement.

Teamwork

Only techs in the field have team work with each other. But when it comes to a connection of teamwork with management, there is a feeling that they only work to save themselves at a time of work error.

Freedom to work independently

There is a very large space available for improvement if current management is replaced. The company makes money and is very good at governing itself. However it never governs itself on the right direction to protect the employees, only to protect profits.

Internal Communication

There is a huge this connection between the field technicians and upper management. There is also a disconnection between corporate administration to correct these issues because there's a this communication between the field technicians and upper corporate management

Gender Equality

Absolutely no equality as well. The only way to make a decent living is if you were hired 20 years ago and are still working with the company in a management position.

Attitude towards older colleagues

They do hire people back, but usually management lowers the returning employees pay then what they left at.

Career Development

The only way to have a decent raise is to be promoted to different positions, but even then, once they an employee is at a set pay near 20$ it is usually stated that they already make the amount needed for that position.

Overall compensation for your work

Wages do not match responsibility. It is possible to cause damage to utility infrastructure at a cost to half a million. An employee will never make that in even 10 years of employment. Yet the mistake can be done within 1 hr of work.

Office / Work Environment

By far the worst working conditions I have ever experienced in my life. There's insufficient equipment for traffic control leaves you vulnerable. They don't provide weather condition clothing you have to purchase your own. And even protective equipment is scarce for example light gloves.

Environmental Friendliness

They have no social awareness as far as understanding rate of pay, people at McDonalds will soon be getting paid more than our field technicians causing a new waves of frustration with the quality of trainees that get hired only to quite after they find out this job is extremely difficult.

Work-Life Balance

Absolutely no quality to life. As of the new year 2016 in January, the average work day is 11.5 hrs with no drive time pay. This ends up being at least 13 to 14 hrs away from family. With almost every employee I speak with, there is issues with their relationships/ families for having to work so much.

Company Image

All the rumors, and things people have ever said about UtiliQuest are true. There is a joke within the lower ranks of employees " I wouldn't even tell my worst enemy UtiliQuest is hiring".

Job Security

With a mistake having the possibility to cost half a million and techs being paid at an average of 15$ an hr, there is no job security. Everyone can easily be replaced. Hence why no one stands up to management, everyone is to scared to lose their job and put their families in danger.

Handicapped Accessibility

If you want walk, you can't work. And if you have issues walking, you can't say anything about it or you will only work 4 hr shhifts

Workplace Safety

Just this new year, 2016 in January, a tech was pinched between a truck and a cat as he was working. We work in the field, we don't have flaggers, slow signs for flaggers, arrow boards, and other veritis of safety equipment.

Challenging Work

The work is extremely challenging, possibly the only good thing. This make the day go by faster.

Inclusive / Diverse

There is no real goals set to improve the company, whether it be to increase safety, pay, or quality to life.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Remove current management and administration personnel. Hire someone educated with a good understanding of ethics

What I like about the company

This is a fortune 500 company. If effort existed within upper management, this company has the ability to be a wonderful place to work.

What I dislike about the company

The way in which it is currently being runnd is outdated and has absolutely no ethics policy. A d is way understaffed with field techs.
