There's definitely people that care about their work and understand that when you help others, the work is easier for everybody but there are also others that insist on creating an environment that makes it hard to want to stay. The manager thinks everything goes away if you ignore the personal problems and would rather be everyone's friend. The lead has some serious issues she is ignoring or dealing with in a very unhealthy way instead of getting professional help and it's making some of us rather uncomfortable. Can't tell the manager cuz he doesn't do anything. A decent raise? Not sure of that yet. People from the different buildings stay with their own building people for the most part...like a clique.
Support from management
He has a hard time letting people go that don't work well. It irritates the rest of us who have to pick up the slack for those that really don't want to be there.
All but one of us seems to understand this concept.
Freedom to work independently
As long as we are getting work done, no problem except for the assembly line. Must work as a team there.
I don't feel the pay is equal or that the women are taken seriously (there are only four women in this building).
Attitude towards older colleagues
A couple of the older workers are rather slow. One for sure is having medical issues and they are disrespected behind their backs by coworkers all the time. Another older coworker is favored because of his relation to the manager.
The company outsourced h.r. party does offer free online training for various things. This just began this year.
Overall compensation for your work
Not horrible for the work.
Office / Work Environment
The environment, in terms of work, isn't particularly difficult. It's the drama, backstabbing, and favortism that make it difficult.
Pop cans get recycled. To a degree, our cardboard gets recycled. Some of the plastic does get recycled. Otherwise most things go in the garbage.
Manager is good about letting us take care of our business if it's not something that's going to be long and drawn out.
As long as you work, you are almost golden.
Just that there aren't buttons to open the door. There is a doorbell to get someone's attention to open a door.
I'm not super worried here.
Just depends on the order but it can be!
Suggestions for improvement
- Treat everyone equally. They can be friends outside work hours. The work relationships need to be respected. More PTO would be nice.
What I like about the company
The training now offered, affordable medical plans available, early end time on Friday.
What I dislike about the company
The constant drama and negativity. A person can only ignore it so much when you spend so much of your time in it.
