What I dislike about the company
Let's start with Eric. Since taking of the credit union job satisfaction has gone down. VCU went from the top 10 places to work down to not even registering. He has helped to facilitate a culture of bottom line first, members a far second, and maybe employees third (if it is in the budget). Many tenured employees have left since his admission into his position.
Human Resources. This is a department that clearly plays favorites and has a poor sense of organization. There are documents regarding employee benefits, compensation, tuition reimbursement and so on that are well over a decade old. When anyone does give their notice, they are treated with hostility by the HR department (unless you were one of their favorites).
Culture of cruelty. Inappropriate workplace behavior including bullying, sexual conversation, religious conversation, and political conversation is not only ignored, but often encouraged by upper management and HR (see, HR again).
Compensation. VCU vastly underpays its employees. Period.
Advancement. There is none. Assistant managers were systematically demoted for no other reason that to decrease the available benefits to them.
