Since splitting from Varian, Varex is finding it's footing as a bottom line focused company with zero disregard for employee morale. Poor upper and executive leadership.
Support from management
Feedback from employees is generally ignored. Even further, quality issues stemming from design and poor procedures are always blamed on operators.
Employees are great people. Problem employees are usually handled by moving departments but they are removed from interfering with getting the job done.
Worked my way up through Varian. Mobility is gone at Varex. No more energy spent promoting within.
Overall compensation for your work
Decent pay for the work. However, cost cutting has restructured start rates and eliminated bonus.
Good balance. Not a ton of overtime. Production is not flexible with hours though.
The one thing the executives have done is sell this company to Wall Street. Investors are seeing through the smoke and mirrors and the stock price is down almost 50%.
Feels like this company is on it's last leg. 2 rounds of layoffs in the past year.
Suggestions for improvement
- Value your assets, machines and people. Equipment from the 60s needs to go and the suggestions from your employees needs to be heeded.
What I like about the company
Was fun, flexible, and an enjoyable under Varian. Current executive structure have made this company belly flop despite healthy margins and what should be a successful and profitable could company.
What I dislike about the company
Exceptionally poor upper management. Poor vision, project management, and engineering guidance leaves operators picking up the pieces and blame for struggles.
