Suggestions for improvement
- Hire good managers from within instead of halfwit thieves hiding behind a diversity program. Reward the loyal workers. Get back to the robust training programs of decades past.
I like about the employer
It was good steady work for 15 years. The benefits were solid and the profit sharing program put a lot into my retirement funds.
I dislike about the employer
The commitment to good leadership and training has eroded rapidly over the last decade. Massive problems with leadership (possible fraud) were never addressed and subsequent lack of morale was blamed on employees. Less qualified off site managers were ineffective and just followed the numbers instead of providing real leadership. Career advancement is glacial and not at all merit based. If you do get into Grainger, change departments often if you want to get a raise. Loyalty is not rewarded financially, but it is steady work until they send your job to Panama.
