Support from management
Our director is very good at interacting and communicating with the team.
Everyone works together, covers for each other, and interacts in a friendly manner. There is a wonderful, friendly atmosphere amongst the staff, and professionalism when interacting with faculty and students.
Staff members freely share information and keep each other in the loop. Verbal, inter-office emails, as well as Webinar and training are most helpful.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Most of the staff members are considered older and are valued for their experience and training. Applicants are hired based on educational levels and promoted based on time of employment.
The opportunity may be at the main campus in Missouri, but does not appear so locally. People are generally hired for a particular job, and are not trained to advance.
Overall compensation for your work
Yes to all the questions, however, as in most educational institutions, the pay could be better.
Retention is based on student enrollment and factors out of the employee's control. Vacated positions may not be filled. Contracts are assigned on an annual basis. No, I don't feel secure in my job.
Yes and yes.
The challenge here is that so few take care of so many. Most staff members do the work of 2, often totally unrelated jobs.
Suggestions for improvement
- Special incentives for hardworking staff members, especially those filling numerous positions. More educational and advancement opportunities. Student hires to assist with administrative tasks and projects.
