Company Culture

Sad, very unhappy people.

Support from management

No, more like a dictatorship.

Teamwork

So do, most play the blame game. But they all are afraid of loosing their jobs constantly.

Freedom to work independently

Yes, but full and critical review is required weekly by the dictator.

Internal Communication

Daily admin meetings about new orders. No info on results or successes on past orders and shipments.

Gender Equality

No and ofter reminded of that.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Only because many products are outdated and only the older colleagues had the knowledge, that is no longer taught today.

Career Development

No real advancement offered. The people in charge have been there over 30 years and do not plan on changing things.

Overall compensation for your work

Salary was OK for a beginning, but no increase in the future was offered.

Office / Work Environment

Took over a month to get my computer and email address. Ventilation is poor, electronic soldering and painting in building effects office area. Most suffer daily, company supplies Allergy pills. 4 people in one office and all need allergy pills daily.

Environmental Friendliness

Paper only. Electronic parts and steel through away.

Work-Life Balance

Extra hours required if you want your job. But no time clock and no extra pay.

Company Image

I was because it is a dying art in the US. But the Chinese are now offering the same old school products.

Job Security

Weekly you were warned you could be eliminated. Many people were. Low sales was the reason given. But we were in production and not sales.

Workplace Safety

No, poor ventilation for soldering and painting. Should be inspected by OSHA. Even fumes entered the admin. office area. No safety training.

Challenging Work

Challenging because the position had been empty for 4 years. Only a few people hired once a year, short time at inventory time. I was very proud of my production, cut costs, reduced inventory by 25%, when required to reduce by 10% in order to keep my job. Still laid off 2 days before 90 days. I think they do this yearly, found notes in files from others with same info. No training on specialized parts, I was fortunate that I have experience in specialized electronic parts.

Inclusive / Diverse

Not at all, when I asked about where a part was used I was told "you don't need to know that". But later that changed and they realized the need to know to keep production on time and going well.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Visit by surprise or consider a "secret shopper" style employee.
  • Clean up the air in the place.

What I like about the company

they were keeping alive a dying art in the US.

Company Culture

Most have to have their jobs, otherwise they are looking else where. Very unhappy people.

Support from management

Never, the General Manager rules all. No suggestions taken. Reminds all how many years he has been doing this.

Teamwork

Too many unhappy people, blame others is the name of the game.

Some what, but then reviewed and ofter asked if you are that stupid.

Daily meeting for Admin, results and sucesses are not a part of that. Dictator management.

Mostly because many of the products are a lost art. Older people can do the work, much is no longer offered in education.

No way, waited over a month for my computer and email address. Told to call and fax. Most of the time the phones did not work. Ventilation should be reviewed by OSHA, electronic assembly without proper draw equipment. Dangerous.

Paper only. Steel and electronic parts thrown in the trash.

Expected to work more hours and without additional pay.

I was in the beginning, proud they were offering a dying art, keeping it alive in the USA.

Job Security

Not stable,. positions eliminated monthly, lack of sales and threatened with lay offs all the time.

Very poor working environment, especially poor ventilation for solders and painters. OSHA should inspect. No safety training.Paint fumes through out the building and office area.

Challenging Work

I am very proud of what I acccomplished. The position had been unfilled for 4 years by qualified people. Note all over in files about problems with management. Most lasted a few months, let go before they could qualify for benefits. Seems they do this at least once a year.

Inclusive / Diverse

No way, this is they way it has been done for 30 years and that is how it will continue to be done. Files full of documents from as far back as 1970's.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The owners of the company need to do a surprise inspection or have a "secret shopper" like employee work with the team. Very sad to see the company go down the drain.

What I like about the company

I was asked to promise to stay for years to come.

What I dislike about the company

The great dislike between employees. Most people feared 1 or 2 people who seems to rule all areas even though it was not their area.
