Company Culture

No open or private commendations. There is little trust offered between any workers.

Support from management

Conflict is direct confrontation up to and including name-calling. Targets/goals would be realistic in a less hostile environment. Decisions typically only make sense to the owner and employees with excellent work history in the field are cut right out of the process.

Teamwork

The company culture is competitive up to verbally abusive. Teamwork only occurs at odd hours.

Freedom to work independently

Each employee is expected to maintain their own workspace and manage their own time appropriately. The workload is not fairly distributed.

Internal Communication

There are no company meetings or communications of any kind. Scheduling is finalized the night before the schedule begins and employees who are not present when it is posted or on a set schedule are expected to call into the company and find out their next shift before it begins.

Gender Equality

Equality is not a respected goal in this environment.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Senior citizen workers aren't hired but seldom if ever apply as the job is, by nature, too fast paced. Longstanding employees are typically treated only marginally to not in the least better than new hires.

Career Development

There is no room for growth in the company and no comprehensive training for any of the jobs available.

Overall compensation for your work

Wages do not match responsibility or aptitude. The wage would be satisfying in a less hostile environment. There are effectively zero benefits. No health plan. No paid sick or vacation time. Overtime wages are not offered. A handful of employees are paid for 2 of the 3 holidays that the company closes up for. Paychecks are paid on time.

Office / Work Environment

Temperatures vary by season: from 45-105 f. Ventilation is merely up to fire code. Noise from fellow workers is often an issue. IE yelling over one and other to be heard for basic job communications.

Environmental Friendliness

The company maintains loose adherence to EPA and Health Code. Enough to pass inspections. It does not seek to excel in these areas.

Work-Life Balance

Bottom marks across the board. Vacation days are frowned upon and they are unpaid. Sick leave and vacation time off is frequently derided. If the employee does not set strict availability from the start of employment ever hour offered will be taken advantage of without hesitation. Employees working 40 to 70 hours have to stress about taking even a day out. Family time is not a valid concern when taking time off from work. Peer pressure is levied against employees, especially the youngest.

Company Image

No employees are proud of their workplace or the jobs they perform. The image they project as they speak of the workplace accurately reflects and negatively impacts on the public image of the company.

Job Security

There is risk as the company leadership continues to make poor leadership choices. However, the company is always hiring and will keep generally productive employees indefinitely.

Handicapped Accessibility

Disabled employees would find the work environment extremely unpleasant. There are no need for ramps/elevators.

Workplace Safety

The company does not provide OSHA standards awareness or training.

Challenging Work

Personally, yes. I also know there is room for improvement. However improvement isn't encouraged let alone basic pride in a job well done.

Inclusive / Diverse

No. New ideas are rejected without review.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Remove entrenched management in favor of a management team with an eye on cutting unnecessary costs, encouraging actual teamwork, and raising the quality standards by fostering good relations with valuable employees.

What I like about the company

I appreciate some of my coworkers who actively try to work as a team with others as well as with me. I am glad for the steady work that was offered during a personal financial crisis.

What I dislike about the company

The company has been in operation for nearly 30 years under the same management. The infrastructure of that management is yelling, temper-tantrums, name-calling and incomprehensible nonsense that needs to be selectively ignored in order to produce the results the company needs.
