Even the Supervisors admitted that they did not want to work there
Support from management
Very Poor Leadership Support, Supervisors preferred to bully and intimidate rather than motivate
Toxic environment, dog eat dog world. Employees would spend their time blaming other employees for constantly occurring mistakes.
Freedom to work independently
I was constantly overworked, while others did little or nothing. Which allowed me to learn and grow as a chemist at my new job.
Each department was completely oblivious to the activities of the other departments. This is scary because the company is a large scale explosive chemical plant. Equipment explosions were common occurrences
I was told by other employees that it was decided by the supervisor that women would never would be hired to work in the QC department because they "would just end up quitting," which violates the Equal Opportunity Act
People have spent 40 years there in the same position title they were in the first year they were there
Overall compensation for your work
Because of constant labor turnover overtime was usually available. Other than that raises were very seldom, if ever. Benefits were average at best. No bonuses ever.
Office / Work Environment
During the winter the buildings entire heating system was broken. We were constantly told it would be fixed, it was terribly cold for 4 months, by the time the heating was fixed it was March and already getting warmer. The fume hoods in the laboratory were not working properly and were supposed to be fixed for a couple of years. We were working in a laboratory with several OSHA violations that went unaddressed
Chemical plant had many leaks, Trimethylamine fumes would engulf surrounding neighborhood and company would get complaints
Swing Shift was a very depressing way to live, overtime was mandatory
High Risk. company has had a long history of mass layoffs
Fume hoods in laboratory don't work properly. There will always be explosions happening outside in the plants reactor vessels because of the type of aggressive chemistry being practiced here.
Inclusive / Diverse
No, the company was sent in a very closed minded area of the south, The "Good ol Boys" system, outsiders weren't considered welcome
Suggestions for improvement

What I like about the company
