They have tons of rules, but they have much much more exceptions to turn down those rules easily. That you can do this way this time doesn't mean you can do the same way next time. So overall you are very confused and feel like you are treading on thin ice everyday.
Support from management
You can always conduct your supervisors for the decisions, which they love and you always have to. However, the decisions from your supervisors are precise/accurate or not, that's not in this case... Also, you will definitely have to re-do the same things (like a loop) whenever your supervisor conduct with any other supervisors. So, it's pretty inefficient to be honest.
Freedom to work independently
To be honest, workload here is not fairly distributed. Talkers are more likable here than doers in this company. And they don't want a smart guy working there. They want obedient guys.
An endless loop. Decisions keep changing everyday till you finish the job. One day you finally got the decision from your supervisors after 2-3 hour long meeting and the other day they ask you to redo it all over again in a extremely different way because they heard some other opinions and decided to change. The supervisors don't have smart to trust the professionals. They heard all the opinions and want to take all the opinions into their projects.
They don't even have a nursery room and one female worker got discriminated by other workers after her maternity leave.
Attitude towards older colleagues
The longer the higher hierarchy and higher respect because it's a Chinese/Taiwanese company after all.
The only training they offer is to throw you into the project you need to do right away and you will get to learn A LOT after this.
Overall compensation for your work
Compared to typical U.S companies, it's relatively low.
Office / Work Environment
Overall, computers are pretty old and slow.
Working hours are normal. Vacations over certain days need to be approved in advance by your supervisors. However, you still get texts or calls after work from your supervisors about something they want you to do right away. Very Chinese/Taiwanese style.
Newspaper industry needs to to be transformed. So, there might be restructuring on the way.
Inclusive / Diverse
Yes, they want to do everything that makes money.
What I like about the company
Offering job positions to Chinese immigrants who can't really speak English that well.
