Support from management
The owners are husband and wife and they have their son - the general manager who knows NOTHING about the work being done on the floor. He walks around with a chip on his shoulder because mommy and daddy owns the place. He gives the employees dirty looks, doesn't say anything when you say "good morning" or "hi" and he will be the first person to tell you everything you do wrong when he knows nothing about what you are even doing.
There is no teamwork, its every man for himself
NO communication is there even with an "open door policy" your problems don't matter because as long as you make them money they don't care what you think or what happens to you.
Supervisors pick and choose who they like and if you are not it then you get picked on and harassed until you quit or they fire you. if they don't like you don't expect a pay raise! I was given one raise in 3 years and watched a buddy of mine get 3 raises in 2 years!
there is no way you are going to move up in the company. you are stuck where you are.
Office / Work Environment
VERY DANGEROUS. in the 3 years I worked there I watched a guy lose his pinky finger due to poor safety. I myself was cut on the neck 1 cm away from my artery and was told by my supervisor to "walk it off" not to mention 3 years before I started a guy lost his entire arm in the drop hammer and the company DID NOT pay him worker compensation. they also DID NOT pay me workers compensation for my 3 days off. walking into the company you get that awkward feeling that you might get hurt today. the metal shavings in the polishing department is like walking into a snow globe of metal flakes. EVERYDAY I would shower and the water would be BLACK. I would blow my nose and BLACK METAL BOOGERS came out. laugh as you may but knowing that you are breathing metal on a daily basis is no laughing matter. you might get lucky and actually find 1 or 2 locks to lock out at least 30 machines, grinders blow shavings into electrical outlets. just a horrible place to work. VERY DANGEROUS
Inclusive / Diverse
no minorities here. I was the only one. and they hated that. ALL WHITE FOLKS HERE
Suggestions for improvement
- get rid of the son who is the general manager, give the employees equal raises and ADD MORE SAFTEY PERCAUTIONS!
What I like about the company
It was close. that's the only good thing I can say about this terrible place.
What I dislike about the company
EVERYTHING! the safety is poor, the pay was poor, the work was hard, the whole place stays a steady 120 degrees with metal shavings in the air. I would shower and the water would be BLACK. I watched a guy lose his arm another guy lose his pinky and I myself was cut in the neck 1 cm away from my artery. working there is like standing next to gunshots with no earplugs. just an all around terrible place to work.
