WVU medicine has a good reputation, but the staff is not diverse and there are strong separations between employees from different offices
Support from management
They encouraged it but didn't always act that way
Freedom to work independently
Very good - I was able to independently manage my position
They definitely need to improve on that
Women were definitely valued
Attitude towards older colleagues
Overall compensation for your work
Very much disagree - before the private practice was bought out by WVU healthcare, the employees made significantly more money than they did after
Office / Work Environment
They did a decent amount
West Virginia itself has a bit of a reputation, but WVU healthcare system is well-respected
They needed to be for our patient population
I loved the work, it was challenging in a good way. It taught me a lot.
Inclusive / Diverse
I'm sure they valued it, but it was not well represented
Suggestions for improvement
- Again, financial compensation, communication, and their employees could use significantly more diversity.
What I like about the company
The doctors I worked under were incredible teachers and facilitated learning and growing in your position. I will forever cherish my relationship with them.
What I dislike about the company
Again, their financial compensation needs to be significantly improved and communication needs to be improved, as well. The integration between being a private practice and being bought out by WVU healthcare system was a very rocky and ill-planned one.
