Suggestions for improvement
- The owner needs to learn how to be fair, honest, professional, and a good leader, and use these traits to lead his employees by example.
What I like about the company
It was a valuable learning experience in customer service, dealing with hostile and difficult personalities, and working under pressure. Although, no breaks were allowed, there was always free or discounted food available to eat either before/after your shift or if you could find some down time. Most employees were usually eager to help one another out, assist in training and education, and cover shifts.
What I dislike about the company
The owner refused to pay for overtime, sick leave, or provide health insurance as stated per policy. He would also short employees their hours they were paid by rounding down (for example, if you worked 20.8 hours, you only got paid for 20 hours). The owner expected you to pick up shifts with only a few hours notice, and if you did not comply, you would be punished by having your shifts cut or replaced by other employees. Also, the owner did not pay everyone fairly based on experience or workload. He paid his friends, family members, and the Asian employees a higher salary than others.
