Verbesserungsvorschläge

I definitely think the company needs to reflect more on how the people in higher positions are treating individuals in their respective teams - especially marketing. It can't be a good sign, if there is a high staff turnover. If you are going to hire good people, you need to place more trust in them and their work and just let them do and not micromanage.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Clear separation of "just an employee" (who is replaceable - as is said to one's face, not just mine) and being part of the in-crowd. More criticism than praise given, which is not very motivating. I have never experienced micromanagement to such an extent, which is a pity, as it limits and restricts a person's creative freedom.

Kommunikation

Hardly get to chat to head of, as either too busy or need to go through 2-3 other team leads first for feedback - very counterproductive. And even when available, too scared to approach. Appreciated the transparency I had with my immediate superior - until it was used against me. In general company-wide information was communicated well. Monthly town-hall meetings were a good source of information.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

I would have stayed for the team alone - they do hire cool people. The team is what makes this company what it is - and everyone there (not in management) is undervalued and not treated with enough appreciation. Not surprised of the high staff turnover. “Train people well enough so they can leave. Treat them well enough so they don’t have to.”

Work-Life-Balance

You are supposed to meet strict and often unrealistic deadlines, without doing overtime. So it didn't come as a surprise that most of the marketing team always had overtime. On the plus side, you are allowed to use these hours for days off or daytime appointments.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

As mentioned, the level of micromanagement I experienced has left me with PTSD. There is no feeling of independent working or trust . Every minute detail needs to be checked by 2-3 people before being approved by the head of. Not fun and not an environment that makes you feel like you can grown in your skills or as a person. I didn't feel acknowledged or appreciated.

Gleichberechtigung

As mentioned, clear distinction between "just an employee" and the in-crowd (i.e. management).

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Didn't see many older employees - but some seem to have been around for a while, so I guess that's a good thing...

Arbeitsbedingungen

Cool office and we did get new equipment when we asked for it. So in that sense they were very accommodating.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

I think it's great they are pushing for more this.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Pay was ok. They subsidise the HVV card and betriebliche Altersvorsorge. I do think they try to make an effort here.

I didn't know much about Tom Tailor when I started working there. Unfortunately now that I know it a little better, I don't think it has the best reputation in the industry. It's designs are more for an older generation, yet it's marketing is trying to speak to (and gain) a younger generation.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Got promised this - but it didn't actually transpire. Just not enough time. And if the possibility arose, it was more the leads that got to go...
