Working atmosphere

Business development is recognized well, everything else does not matter it seems. While it is always hard to judge on what is fair, trust is evidently more a word on the kitchen wall than something you experience.

The ice is melting - discordant tones get louder especially towards the leadership team their questionable decisions on the on side and the lethargy on other topics .

Work-Life Balance

You have great freedom in how you plan and organize your work. As long as the customer is satisfied and your results meet expectations, you enjoy a high level of autonomy. There’s also a system that supports working from countries other than your location.

Career/Professional development

Every employee has a educational budget that can be used what is great. To have a career and or even be recognized you need be easy wo work with, march along, applaud the leadership team, stop asking too many tough - but neccessary -questions and do business development. If you deviate from that you will get you crucified if not even prone for the next lay off.

Salary/Social benefits

Base salary plus benefits is comparable to the competition but (obviously) not with customers.

Environmental and social responsibility

We switched from PET to glass bottles for free drinks!

Collegiality

The team is great, and there's strong cohesion among colleagues. Support requests are seldom turned down. Collaboration between organizational units could be improved.

As far as I can tell they are well accepted and their experience is appreciated

Leadership behavior

There is (no) honor among thieves! Power games, intrigues and hidden agendas are obvious. There is almost no accountability taken in the Leadership Team. Decisions drag on forever without obvious reasons. The consequences to missteps on that level are blamed onto the workforce up to laying people off while the responsible leaders get new roles or promotions. There is no admitting of failures. Failed changes are accepted and later reversed, with leaders celebrating it as a breakthrough applauding each other. The go to solution is to create a committee for a topic mainly consisting out of Leadership Team members or people that march along nicely what slows everything down with debatable impact. In case a Leadership Team member starts marching to a different beat the group will make sure that the person marches somewhere else. Some of the newly appointed line managers lack basic leadership skills, which is acknowledged as not being a current priority to be worked on.

Working conditions

The new Allschwil office is excellent. However, internal systems are outdated and hard to use, with many Excel files and SharePoint sites that employees must constantly maintain.

Communication

Many internal meetings share information without providing clarity on reasons, next steps, or outcomes. Leadership emails often have 20% relevant content and 80% filler, missing key details on the why and how. Internal systems are difficult to use and lack the clarity needed across different levels. Depending on who you talk to you get different answers that range from aligned to contradictory what does not help building trust. 

Equality

Overall, there appears to be a good gender balance up to middle management. Above that level, leadership is mostly male, though Arcondis recently added a female board member.

Interesting tasks

It depends on the project. Most are interesting, but when one ends, the available options might be less appealing or outside your expertise. Declining a project is generally not well received.

What I like about the employer

Talented and committed colleagues at the operational level

Exposure to interesting projects and clients, when we can deliver

What I dislike about the employer

The company is in a difficult financial situation, and this is becoming increasingly visible.
No bonuses have been paid for the past two years, and current salary levels are not competitive for the market.
High turnover: multiple senior leaders, including the CCO, have left recently, and more exits are expected.
The leadership team lacks both relevant experience and a proven track record. Many strategic decisions appear disconnected from reality.
Employee morale is low, and workloads are high due to constant departures and unclear priorities.
Communication from management is vague and reactive, with limited transparency about the company’s direction.

Suggestions for improvement

Be honest with your employees. Acknowledge the company’s financial challenges and stop pretending everything is under control. Prioritize rebuilding trust by involving experienced leaders and making the well-being of your people a real priority. Without a major shift in culture and governance, the downward trend will continue.

Am besten alle Kollegen kündigen die eine Buschfunk Atmosphäre schaffen anstatt zu arbeiten, und Vorgesetzte die nur Angstmachen ebenfalls und vllt noch schikanieren. Somit kommt man eher ans Ziel der Firma. Team= Together everyone achieves more, falls keiner weiss was dies bedeutet. Aber hier werden eher Betriebsfeier gehalten. Denke man ist einem wirklich nicht bewusst was Team bedeutet. Old school.

Ich mochte die älteren Kollegen da diese einfach viel netter waren, als die meisten jüngeren Kollegen.

Vorgesetztenverhalten empfand ich nicht als sehr vorbildlich. Viele wechseln ja auch nicht umsonst aus dieser Firma. Denn hätten Vorgesetzte ein gutes Klima erschaffen würden nicht viele wechseln. Ich nenne dies eine hohe Fluktuation.
Es gibt ja mehrere Vorgesetzte, manche davon sind wirklich toll. Aber die meisten sollten nicht Vorgesetzte sein.

Working conditions

tolle screens, Tische und Getränke und Snacks Gratis- das einzig tolle hier in dieser Firma. Am besten konnte man nur essen um das negative auszuschalten.
Am besten arbeitet man als Freelancer, dann braucht man mit den meisten Kollegen keinen Kontakt pflegen.

Communication

Kommuniziert wird wirklich alles, jedes einzelne Detail über jeden und über die Arbeit.

Equality

Eine Frau ist mit in der Geschäftsleitung aber das wars auch schon. Mehr männliche haben eher das sagen hier bei Arcondis.

Inspiring, authentic and honest leadership. The possibility to share in the financial success of the company. The flat hierarchy. The encouragement to be entrepreneurial and self organising. The exciting plans for growth and development.

Arcondis is a really exciting place to work right now. It was an inspiring decision to move to Main Campus and sets us up perfectly for future growth. Looking forward to the move!

Overall good reputation in the life sciences industry. The old image was "old" and traditional but it has been transformed this year, the new website and corporate identity was launched last week, it's excellent.

excellent. you can work from wherever makes sense, office, client site or work from home. weekends are my own time and no expectation to be "on" all the time.

there is a training budget for each service line. trainings are approved on an ad-hoc and as needed basis.

not the highest paid in the industry but that's more than offset by the great colleagues, work environment, challenging projects, company bonus model and the authentic mission "we make healthcare better"

very good. lots of company funded social events, e.g. after work drinks, summer party, NY party etc. very easy to get to know everyone, good sense of trust and friendship.

older colleagues are very well respected and appreciated. the annual vacation for employees 50 and over has just been increased from 25 to 30 days.

flat hierarchy, good access to the senior management who are typically available and happy to answer any and all questions.

Working conditions

Excellent. Nice office, free drinks and snacks, good equipment and infrastructure. Good support from the corporate functions e.g. HR, IT support etc

Communication

At the beginning of the year the communication did not keep pace with the change. But it's way better now, regular updates, easy access to senior management, town halls, very easy to get whichever info you need.

everybody is treated equally and fairly, promotion is based on merit and performance

Die Leute geben wirklich ihres bestes und versuchen selbst hier auf Kununu die ewig gleichen Parolen der Geschäftsleitung einfliessen zu lassen. Interessant auch wie schnell neue gute oder gar überarbeitete Bewertungen nach einer schlechten folgen.

Auf schlechte Bewertungen folgen dreiste Antworten seitens Arcondis. Gute Bewertungen lesen sich hingegen wie direkt aus der Marketingabteilung. Nun geht Arcondis jedoch einen Schritt weiter und versucht kritische Bewertungen löschen zu lassen. Leider beweist Arcondis mit diesem Verhalten einmal mehr ihre nicht vorhandenen Werte. Nachvollziehbar, dass sich Mitarbeitende da bei Problemen nicht an die Geschäftsführung wenden.

Working atmosphere

Schlechte Arbeitsatmosphäre - viele sind frustriert und haben resigniert, halten aber den Schein aufrecht, da individuelle Meinungen nicht gefragt sind.

Man wird dafür glorifiziert, wenn man möglichst viel Zeit bei der Arbeit verbringt - es zählt nur der berufliche Erfolg.

6 Wochen Urlaub für Leute über fünfzig - nicht ganz so grosszügig wenn man bedenkt, dass ausser Leute der Geschäftsleitung kaum jemand in dem Alter ist.

Vorgesetzte können ihre Mitarbeiter behandeln wie sie wollen - vor versammeltem Team kleinmachen oder grundlos befördern. Alles ist möglich bei Arcondis!

Communication

Kalkuliert durch und durch. Es werden so lange die selben Parolen gepredigt, bis jeder der „Gefolgsleute“ diese auch im Schlaf exakt wiedergegeben kann. Phrasen wie „hidden agenda“ sind erst mit der neuen Geschäftsleitung aufgekommen.

Equality

Schwierig zu beurteilen, aber es spricht für sich, dass wenig Frauen in Führungspositionen gibt. Zudem wenig Verständnis, wenn Frau nach dem regulären Mutterschutz nicht wieder 100% arbeiten möchte.

Es spielt keine Rolle was man tut - einzig der Stundensatz wird als relevant erachtet.

Liebe/r Arcondianer/in, vielen Dank für das Feedback.

Bitte erlaube uns, die verschiedenen Behauptungen sachlich zu behandeln:
- Nachweislich ist die Aussage falsch, es sei bei Arcondis «kein Corona Schutzkonzept vorhanden» bzw. es werde «nicht umgesetzt».
- Nachweislich ist die Behauptung falsch, «Alte Benefits wie Mitarbeiter-Weekend oder auch Ausbildungsbudget sind sang- und klanglos verschwunden...»
Dies sind haltlose Unterstellungen, die wir scharf zurückweisen. Das geplante Mitarbeiter Weekend in Wien musste aufgrund von Covid-19 abgesagt werden. Stattdessen haben wir eine tolle Sommerparty in Basel und viele weitere gesellschaftliche Anlässe im Jahr 2020 veranstaltet, immer unter Berücksichtigung der Covid-Bestimmungen.
Die umfangreichen Aufwendungen die wir für unsere Social Events vornehmen, werden von allen Mitarbeitern geschätzt, mit Ausnahme von einer Person wie es scheint.
- Was das Weiterbildungsbudget betrifft - steht es selbstverständlich weiterhin zur Verfügung. Jede/r Mitarbeiter/in kann mit seinen Mentor/in oder die Service Line seine eigenen Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen planen und umsetzen.
- Die Behauptung, «Normale Mitarbeiter Ü50 müssen zittern, da mit ihnen weniger Geld zu verdienen ist» ist ebenfalls falsch. Das Alter eines Consultants hat keinen Einfluss auf die Profitabilität.
Die kürzliche Erhöhung von 25 auf 30 Tage/Jahr Urlaubsanspruch für Ü50 Mitarbeiter in der Schweiz wurde sehr geschätzt.
- Die Behauptung «viele sind frustriert und haben resigniert, halten aber den Schein aufrecht, da individuelle Meinungen nicht gefragt sind» stimmt nicht. Wir begrüßen alle Meinungen und unterstützen einen offenen Dialog innerhalb von Arcondis.
Wir haben in diesem Jahr unter anderem den «Transformation Council» eingeführt mit dem spezifischen Zweck, die Kollegen zu ermutigen die Arcondis, in der Art und Weise wie sie arbeiten möchten, mitzugestalten und voranzutreiben. Bis anhin funktioniert das sehr gut.
- Du hast nichts in dem Abschnitt Verbesserungsvorschläge geschrieben weil «Deine Zeit begrenzt ist». Das ist sehr schade, da wir immer auf der Suche nach Verbesserung sind und konstruktive Kritik und Vorschläge sehr begrüssen.

Nach der herausfordernden Transformation im Jahr 2020 ist es unser Ziel ein florierendes Unternehmen und eine tolle und diverse Kultur aufzubauen, in dem alle Kollegen/innen mitarbeiten und mitgestalten können, stets mit dem Ziel vor Augen «We make healthcare better».
Dabei orientieren wir uns an den Markenwerten «entrepreneurial», «dependable» und «energetic» und viele Kollegen sind von dieser Vision täglich inspiriert.

Es scheint, dass es trotz den gesamten Anstrengungen zur Weiterentwickelung, Veränderung und Engagement für manche Menschen nicht genug ist oder, aus welchen Gründen auch immer, es ihnen nicht passt - und das ist okay.
Wir wünschen Dir bei Deiner nächsten beruflichen Herausforderung viel Glück, Erfolg und Erfüllung.

Kopflastige Struktur ändern. Mehr Fokus auf Mitarbeiter- und Kundeninteressen statt Eigeninteresse des Management Teams.

Working atmosphere

Schon oft erwähnt hier aber die Stimmung ist unterirdisch. Es wird starke Druck ausgeübt um höhere Chargeability zu erreichen. Dass die Senior Managers selber aber nicht auslastbar sind ist anscheinend kein Problem.

Firma ist relativ unbekannt und wenn gefragt ob man erklären kann, was die Firma unterscheidet von anderen Personalverleihfirmen, fällt einem immer wenig ein.

Kann man so einrichten wie man will. Beförderung nur für die, die mehr leisten als deren 'Nachbar'.

Mentorstruktur ist eingeführt. Leider sind die Mentoren eher Sprachrohr für Senior Management Entscheidungen. Ein vertrauliches Gespräch kann plötzlich gegen dir genutzt werden.

Schlecht. Es wird Werbung für 'Good Change Management' gemacht aber selber kriegen die Senior Managers nicht mal eine ordentliche Struktur und Kultur eingeführt. Der Unterschied zwischen was gesagt wird und am Ende gemacht wird ist gigantisch.

Salary/Social benefits

Gehalt liegt deutlich unter Marktdurchschnitt. Im Bewerbungsprozess wird mit zusätzliche Bonus gelockt, ist sehr Account-spezifisch wie hoch diese am Ende ausfällt. Rechne mit nichts, dann kann man nur positiv überrascht werden.

Equality

Schwach, es gibt keine Gleichbehandlung von Frauen/Männern was Salär angeht und ältere Kollegen sind zu teuer, und damit ungern gesehen.

If you want to take responsibility & drive topics, you can do so even if they're not at all in scope of your "normal" job description.

Create more opportunities for employees to see each other "live" - in accordance with Covid19 regulations of course. Arcondis weekend for example

Amongst the consulting workforce a nice sense of supporting each other. Project work & surrounding team members are mostly seen as the "homebase". Sense of alienation towards (senior) management.

Not widely known, a bit more niche. For those who know it, a small consultancy providing more than high-level strategic "blabla". Image has suffered from the turmoil of internal transformation.

Very flexible working hours- Arcondis doesn't care that much, as long as i
t works with the client & project hours.
Part-time work is possible, vacation can be handed in on very short notice. Over-time lets you advance faster (which I think is natural if you invest x-fold amout of time and effort), but is in no way expected or mandatory - which is rare in consulting

Environmental and social responsibility

- Sustainability has never been mentioned in any kind of way, e.g. initiatives to reduce waste, energy consumption, etc. are non-existant
- Flying to team/company events for short distances was seen as normal before the pandemic
- Social responsibilty is a long-term goal, no action so far

Collegiality

Of course depends on who you work with, but personally, I really enjoy my team. A lot of laughter, collaboration, and pulling each other through the "lows".

Interaction with older colleagues

Have never witnessed neither any exclusionary behaviour, nor any extra benefits. Team events are planned in such a way, that everyone, independant of physical condition, can participate.

Leadership behavior

- Organization was struggling with teal vs. top-down decision making, which was not always elegantly handled by management
- Dedicated responsible for settling/counseling disputes amongst employees
- Some management members struggle with control, micro-management, empowering employees
- Improvements in the structure & mindset are ongoing, unfortunately this does not happen overnight

Working conditions

Offices in Reinach are quite horrible, which is known to everyone. Since most consultants don't go there frequently when on client projects, it has been tolerated. Moving to much nicer facilites is currently in discussion - fingers crossed!
IT & home office equipment could be more readily provided (external monitors, Jabra, etc) and labtops of higher performance.
iPhone is provided.

Communication

Could honestly be better;
the rumour mill works perfectly and important decisions are often communicated to late from senior mgmt, so that everyone has already heard speculations about it.

Equality

Equal pay, no exclusionary behaviour based on ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality. Company is very open-minded in general.
1 woman in senior mgmt, which could be better, but IT consulting still attracts more male candidates.

Interesting tasks

Name of the game is IT-related consulting in different forms (agile projectmgmt, OCM, Compliance, digitalization, system implementations, ...) so if you like that, then it's interesting ;)
