It can hardly be any worse. It took them the entire period of three months (!) to get back to me, and then only because I have sent emails to persons within the patent department and phoned one of them. I then eventually received a short reply by email from an HR person. The HR person wrote I should have received two emails during the three months, which allegedly would be standard procedure during the recruitment process, but there was nothing sent to me before her email. Moreover, she also wrote that they prefer candidates not to contact the hiring department/manager directly. But what can you do if the HR people don't do their job and there is no email address or telephone number provided for contacting the HR department?

The entire online application process seems to be designed for maximum automation and reducing workload of HR people, but does not recognize each applying candidate as an individual human being who deserves appropriate treatment as such. There is no opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the role. You can't help but thinking they consider you nothing more than a commodity to be used or not for their goals. Brave new world!
