You want to like working for the firm but the management keeps giving you reasons not to. People are promoted by "being liked" or not and on seniority rather than skills and knowledge.

Your opinion is asked and "valued" but in the end decisions will always be taken on what a few selected people assume to be right.

Good balance between male and female leadership.

Its an outdoor company that hasn't managed in its 30 year history to define a clear standing towards sustainability and constantly makes choices that choose money over sustainable actions.

On broader level, Black Diamond has good reputation as a brand but in Innsbruck people start to know that it is not a great place to work as the climbing community talks.

There is support for education etc. in some cases but no real development within the company. Management team is tighly knit and won't change.

HR Team

While our team members are of highest priority to us as a company and a brand, unfortunately cases occur, in which an employee is no longer happy with her/his situation and/or how his/her career at Black Diamond Equipment Europe is progressing. The frustration associated with such a situation is well understood and we take feedback very seriously.

Responding to some of the statements, that are being made in this review:

Supervisor behavior: we value every team member's perspective and opinion. Naturally, though, certain business or organizational decisions are to be made by the European Management Team - of course after the leadership gremium having carefully vetted all different options, inputs and feedbacks.

Sustainabiliy/CSR: Black Diamond Equipment was founded in 1989 and since day 1 Sustainability and Social Responsibility have been an integrated part of our brand values and our business strategy. Examples for our engagement are e.g. various political campaigns for free access to public lands in North America, projects to protect crags and wild places Globally and our engagement for more diversity in the outdoor space. These initiatives are being supported by both the Global/European Sr. Leadership and our employees - led by the colleagues, who participate in the various Sustainability, DEI and Engagement Committees.
