I had great conversations along the entire recruiting process and you could see that this company is very people centric

Since I interviewed a lot in the past for several operation functions in SaaS business, I highly recommend to add an additional reference checking layer in the interview process. By that I mean that it would be beneficial to talk with a former colleague and/or boss and get feedback from them.

Thanks a lot for mentioning the additional reference checking layer as well. We do this case to case, but not in a standardized way - and this won't change for now, because of our own impressions and observations throughout the hiring journey (where candidates get to talk to several people from Kaleido and Canva) that matter the most in order to take the right decision. Yet, in individual cases, we do consider doing reference checks as well.

Eventuell wäre es noch spannend gewesen, beim Kennenlernen des Teams auch die Gründer kennenzulernen. Ansonsten können sich andere Unternehmen viel von dem Prozess abschauen: Der Bewerbungsprozess war extrem strukturiert, man wusste immer was mit wem als nächstes kommt und alle Stakeholder mit denen man in Kontakt ist, sind sehr wertschätzend. Zudem gibt der Bewerbungsprozess wirklich gute Einblicke, wie es bei einer Einstellung im Unternehmen sein wird, welche Kultur gelebt wird usw…

Friendly, but slow and unstructured process

It took them 2 weeks to contact me (well actually giving any info about my application) then another one untill the interview, then another 2 weeks until I heard from them again. It was stressed during the interview that they value employees who are fast and detailed, and someone in this role has to be quick and focused. Yet it took them so much time for the simple first round and they misspelled my name and had typos in the correspondence emails. :) The contact said that the first interview is going to take about 20-30min, but it lasted almost 80min!
Some questions were related for the position. However there were some borderline netflix series such as - what would I do if a drunk colleague approached me at the company party and asked me about the company's salary plan (and I hypothetically drank as well at the party). There are definitelly better questions to assess someone's discretion, loyalty and professionalism. Also, not projecting the best picture of the company with this. Perhaps the interviewer was not prepared or had no experience in interviewing.

We aim to contact all applicants with an initial update within 7 days after the application. Sometimes, when there is an especially high volume of applications or a member of the team is absent due to sick leave (Covid) or other, it takes a bit longer than that. We’re sorry that you had to wait longer for a first reaction.
As your own evaluation text shows - typos happen, even to the best of us :)
In our standardized invites for initial calls, we send out links to book 30-45 minute time slots. However, in some cases, it can take longer than that - thank you for sharing your feedback that you perceived it as too long; we take your response seriously in order to review our workflows.
